For each purchase, multiply the number of shares by the buy price. Add those purchase costs, add the shares, then divide total cost by total shares. This is a weighted average, so a larger purchase affects the result more than a smaller one.
Worked average share price example
Buying 10 shares at 100 and another 10 at 80 creates a total investment of 1,800 across 20 shares. The weighted average stock price is 90. If the second purchase were 20 shares instead, its lower price would receive twice the weight.
Average purchase price vs average traded price
This calculator finds your personal average purchase cost per share. It does not calculate an exchange's average traded price or volume-weighted average price (VWAP), which use eligible market trades during a period.
What the result does not include
Brokerage, taxes, exchange fees and currency conversion are excluded. Use the break-even calculator when transaction costs need to be included.
A lower average price does not make an investment safer or guarantee a profit.

Can I calculate an average share price for more than two purchases?
Yes. Use “Add purchase” for every lot; each one is weighted by its number of shares.
Does averaging down recover an investment loss?
It lowers the break-even price, but it increases capital at risk and does not guarantee recovery.
Does this include brokerage and taxes?
No. Add those costs separately when you need a true break-even calculation.
Can I use USD, INR, EUR, or another currency?
